My main expertise are within:
Acoustic Guitar and Electric Guitar (rhythm, lead, and fingerstyle)
Music theory.
Songwriting.
Alongside my main expertise, I also have intermediate knowledge of:
Composition
Vocal technique
Drumming
I specialize in the genres of Rock, Blues, Jazz, Pop/Contemporary, and Folk, but still have plenty of technique/theory knowledge irrespective of genre.
I have completed a Certificate IV and Diploma of Music (specialising in guitar performance) at the Canberra Institute of Technology. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Music (Jazz Guitar) at Monash University.
Whilst there are plenty of guitar teachers out there, few of them have the practical educational experience, theory knowledge, and passion which I gained through my studies at university (Bachelor of Secondary Education/Bachelor of Arts) - before switching my study focus to music - as well as my experience as a Learning Support Assistant in various primary schools. I implement this in my approach to designing lessons and teaching my students, tailoring each lesson to suit their individual ambitions, direction, and learning needs.
I am qualified to teach children/adults of any age above five years old. I currently have a portable tutoring set up and only offer services in which I travel to a student's house (dependent on location - must be a reasonable driving distance within or from Vermont South.) My availability is usually around weekday afternoon/evening and weekends. However, this is highly variable due to studies/gigs, so exact lesson times can only be discussed ahead of time.
I always offer my first lesson for free, which runs for 1 hour. This is mainly to gauge a student's musical ambitions, availability, and learning styles. I also want to ensure I am a good fit as a teacher for the student, dependent on these factors.
My current services are:
30-minute lessons. $45 per lesson. Usually on a weekly basis.
60-minute lessons. $80 per lesson. Usually on a weekly basis.
(I will make a recommendation for which lesson type/schedule would be ideal for a student, but it is their/their guardian's choice on which one to go with.)
