My resume:
Hello!
My name is Sean South and I am an Australian musician. I have completed a Certificate IV and Diploma of Music Performance from the Canberra Institute of Technology. I also studied a Bachelor of Secondary Education / Bachelor of Arts (English) for two years before switching my study focus to music. I worked as an Learning Support Assistant within various primary schools during this period, working with children with learning disabilities and developing social skills. I currently study under Lachlan Coventry, who is a great teacher and an even greater guitarist.
Music has always been a part of my life. My family always encouraged playing music together, singing songs around campfires and lots of karaoke sessions. I have been singing my entire life, notably having performed in the ACT Junior and Senior Concert Choir and taking professional vocal lessons throughout year 11-12. I was accepted into the Sydney Conservatorium of Music for Classical Voice but was unable to attend due to financial reasons. I am also an avid songwriter and consider it a fundamental pillar within my craft, having written nearly a hundred songs and counting. I also learnt how to play the drums when I was 13. (I also took dance lessons for seven years. Though, I was never that good so no tutoring services there unfortunately.)
I picked up my first instrument, the ukulele, when I was twelve as a means of completing my first high school English assignment. What was first an easy grade became an obsession, as I started carrying and playing my ukulele everywhere I went. Once I turned fourteen, I picked up the acoustic guitar and thought it would be fun to learn "Let Her Go" by Passenger. I quickly discovered I had a certain adeptness for the instrument which wasn't present in any of my other endeavours. During my high school years, I developed a strong ability for fingerstyle acoustic guitar, learning Fleetwood Mac, Eddie Van Der Meer, and many others. A little later on, I picked up the electric guitar and learnt how to play several different styles, notably focusing on blues, rock, and jazz. My biggest musical inspirations are John Mayer, George Benson, Miles Davis, Jacob Collier, and Johnny Smith.
I am continually learning and developing my craft. The more I learn, the more I realise how vast music is and the more I want to share it with everyone else.
